The Multi-Faceted Movable Alphabet

How to get the most out of the movable alphabet and prepare children to be creative and thoughtful readers and writers.

Cost: $100

PD Credit: 6 hours of AMS PD credit upon AMS approval

In this workshop, you will gain an in depth understanding of the important and expansive role the movable alphabet can play in language and literacy development.  Dr. Montessori developed the movable alphabet to free the child to explode into writing and exercise their free expression. The science of reading explains the early literacy skills that children can develop and strengthen through the use of the movable alphabet such as phonemic awareness, metalinguistic awareness, and alphabet knowledge which are key to learning to read.  With this foundational understanding, you will learn how to best leverage the movable alphabet to support creative and thoughtful readers and writers and also how to provide individualized support to children who are struggling.
