Getting the Most out of Puzzle Maps

From recreating Africa on a rug, to making a stuffed globe, to exploring the animals and landscapes of each continent, learn how to leverage the puzzle maps for “big work” that challenges all ages.

The Puzzle Maps are a unique Montessori material. Through a carefully scaffolded scope and sequence, the puzzle maps can support world knowledge, cultural awareness, executive function, spatial awareness, fine motor skills, sewing, art, memory, vocabulary, writing, and more. Learn to use the Montessori pedagogy’s emphasis on prerequisites, incremental skill development, and spiral curriculum to support children’s independence and self-confidence in this work. You will leave this workshop with:
- A detailed description of the scope and sequence
- Write-ups for each activity, including a specific material list for each
- Hands-on practice with each activity
- A love for the Puzzle Maps

About Dr. Sharra Weasler
Sharra is a lifelong educator who found Montessori through her children’s preschool experience. After completing her AMI Primary training, she was part of the founding team of a new Montessori school in San Francisco, and helped set up the classroom from scratch. For the past 11 years she has served as an early childhood Montessori teacher, Director, and Supervisor and Field Consultant for AMI and AMS teachers in training. She loves supporting teachers to implement an authentic, high-quality Montessori curriculum while meeting the needs of each individual child.
